This is a follow-up session the about how the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) develop guidelines for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). The panel will further explore more topics that impact CLSI and EUCAST. Topics include the increased dosing of antibiotics and their impact on susceptibility testing, the impact and limitations of rapid AST, testing of cefidericol and special media and further discussion on genomics in the microbiology lab. The panel will also discuss poor performance of certain commercial susceptibility tests, emerging mechanisms of resistance, how to validate new beta-lactam beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations, regulating laboratory-determined tests, testing tuberculous and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, Zosurabalpin and integrating AI in the microbiology laboratory.
