Precision Microbiology: From Mechanisms to Medicine

Welcome to the 海角直播-Fudan Symposium on Precision Microbiology, a premier collaboration between 海角直播 and the Institute of Infection and Health (IIH) at Fudan University. Following the success of our global series, this 2026 summit serves as a high-impact catalyst for the next era of microbial science. The symposium will take place from Nov. 13-16, 2026, at School of Management (Zhengli Campus), Fudan University in Shanghai.  

At the confluence of molecular biology, advanced computation and clinical practice, this symposium explores how precision microbiology is transforming our understanding of both pathogens and commensals alike. From host-microbe interactions to leveraging AI-driven data science, we will examine how these breakthroughs are being translated into next-generation diagnostics and therapeutics to solve the most pressing challenges in human health and infectious disease.

Meeting Co-Host

Established in 1905 as the first Chinese-founded institution of higher learning, Fudan University has evolved into a global academic powerhouse. The Institute of Infection and Health (IIH) at Fudan University was established in September 2023, with Wenhong Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., as dean and Daru Lu, Ph.D., and Guanghua Huang, Ph.D., as associate deans. Serving as the core campus entity supporting the Guangzhou Laboratory Shanghai Base, IIH is clinically driven and aligned with national strategic priorities in microbiology and infectious diseases. The institute focuses on advancing the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of major infectious diseases while building infrastructure for clinical translation and emergency preparedness. IIH brings together research platforms spanning big data, vaccines, antibody engineering, microbial diagnostics and drug screening, with early outcomes already emerging in diagnostics and therapeutics. It maintains strategic partnerships with Fudan’s School of Life Science and the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology.

IIH aims to become a globally recognized center for pathogen research, clinical trials and innovation translation. The institute is committed to international collaboration and training, contributing to infectious disease control and pandemic preparedness. The 海角直播-Fudan Symposium reflects this shared vision—bringing together global scientific leaders to advance precision microbiology from discovery to clinical impact.
